Simon Says...Mythology/Inspired By A Story

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
MYTHOLOGY/INSPIRED BY A STORY
and the inspiration for my canvas came from
Lewis Carroll's ALICE IN WONDERLAND
a favourite book from my childhood
with a little nod to the Queen Of Hearts and the Mad Hatter's Tea Party

I started off by fixing torn strips of dictionary paper to the canvas using Distress Collage Medium Matte and applied a light coat of White Gesso.
I die cut the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Planks from Distress Woodgrain Paper, used Distress Collage Medium Matte to fix them in place and applied of coat of the medium over the whole canvas which provides a nice surface when working with Distress Crayons.
I scribbled Distress Crayons on to the background and planks, moved them around with my finger and pushed them into the detail on the planks, then I applied  Picket Fence over the planks to highlight the wood grain.
I added Ranger Opaque Crackle Paste around the edges and left it to dry.
I created shading around the planks using a Black Soot Distress Crayon, added the Idea-ology Alpha Cards and surprise, surprise, my new addiction...Idea-ology Botanical Collage Paper
I added Idea-ology Tiny Text Remnant Rubs and then applied Ranger Opaque Matte Textured Paste through the Dotted Stencil from Mini Layering Stencil Set 33 and because I wanted the paste to stay bright white, I dusted it with Ranger Superfine White Embossing Powder and heat set once the paste had dried.
I die cut the 3 cups from Idea-ology Worn Wallpaper using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Tea Cup Bigz die, the Wildflowers 2 from white cardstock, Funky Florals 1 from Idea-ology Classic Kraftstock and Shadow Script 1 from Classic Kraftstock and Dictionary Paper.

I edged the flowers with Picket Fence Distress Paint using a mini round blending tool and fixed in place with 3D foam.
I coloured the Paper Doll with an Evergreen Bough Distress Marker and fixed on top of the Alpha Cards using 3D foam.

I added tiny hearts die cut from white card coloured with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Heartfelt BigZ die and the Tea Cup tag die cut from the reverse of a scrap of Classic Kraftstock. I rubbed the Black Soot Distress Crayon over the crackle on the edges and wiped back with a slighty damp baby wipe and finished off the edges of the canvas with Black Soot Distress Paint.
